How can I tell if I have toxic material in my colon?

Unfortunately internal toxicity is part and parcel of many people’s everyday experience, prevalent in all civilised societies.

Common signs are headaches, backaches, mood swings, dizziness, inability to concentrate, bloating, loose or urgent bowel movements, constipation, low energy, fatigue, sleep problems, low immune response e.g. too many colds, bloating, gas or flatulence, bad breath, body odour…the list goes on. The passage of time as well as our lifestyle choices and modern eating habits all affect the colon.

Can I use enemas or laxatives instead?

There is no real substitute for a professional colonic treatment. Enemas are a useful addition but will only empty the last 5 to 8 inches of the colon (which is normally about 5 feet long).

Laxatives should be used with extreme caution they can be addictive replacing the normal healthy movement of the colon. Hydrotherapy treatments by comparison will strengthen the colon muscle supporting healthy function.

I have heard that colonic irrigation is habit forming. I am worried that if I have a colonic treatment my colon will stop functioning on its own.

Absolutely NOT true. A colonic is designed to create a clean and healthy colon. A properly trained therapist is dedicated to your health and well being.

You can expect a healthy and better functioning colon as a result because the circulation of the water around the colon retones and exercises the muscle.

Aren’t the friendly bacteria and essential nutrients washed out of my colon as well as the toxic material?

Probiotic (friendly) bacteria are very important to the colon and breed best in an environment free of stagnant waste and impacted residue. By washing out the toxins you will encourage good intestinal bacteria to flourish as well as promoting the better absorption of valuable nutrients.

However it is usual for your therapist to recommend a good probiotic supplement to follow a treatment if necessary.
